Muse Wonder, Gemini 4 Argon and FLUX 3 Max are all paid products – none of them has a free tier. But around each launch there is something genuinely free, provided you are clear-eyed about what it is. Every option below is free, and every one comes with an explicit label saying what it is not: not Wonder, not Argon, not Max video.

If you wanted Gemini 4 Argon: Gemini 3.8 Flash’s free tier

Gemini 3.8 Flash has a free tier, at the time of writing, and it is the free way into Google’s models. What it is not: it is not Argon. Argon itself is paid only – no free tier on the API, and subscription-only in the app (see Is Gemini 4 Free?). Flash is the honest free substitute, not a back door to the flagship. For what Argon itself offers, see Gemini 4 Argon Explained.

If you wanted Muse Wonder: Muse Spark Open’s free weights, and the free Muse app

Two free things sit next to Wonder. First, Muse Spark Open’s weights are free to download from Hugging Face (meta-models/Muse-Spark-Open-816B-A42B), and several hosted providers list the model – OpenRouter has been cited at $1.25 per 1M input tokens (reported). What it is not: Spark Open is Meta’s open-weights model, not Muse Wonder. It is also enormous – around 1.6TB in BF16 or 530GB in NVFP4 – so check your hardware with the Can I Run It? hardware checker before downloading anything. Second, the consumer Muse app is free to use – but it runs Muse Spark, a different model again, not Wonder. Wonder itself has no free route; see What Is Muse Wonder?.

If you wanted FLUX 3 Max video: FLUX 3 Image Klein, running locally for free

FLUX 3 Image Klein runs locally for free: its INT8 build needs 8GB of VRAM and runs in ComfyUI and Diffusers, under the FLUX Kommunity License – free commercial use only if your annual revenue is under $5M. What it is not: Klein makes images, not video. There is no free FLUX 3 Max generation tier on fal – Max is billed per second from the first clip. Klein is the free still-image alternative in the same family, not a free version of the video model. The family is laid out in FLUX 3 Max Explained.

The one-line summary

Free gets you Flash (not Argon), Spark Open’s weights and the Spark-powered Muse app (not Wonder), and Klein for images (not Max video). The flagships themselves – Wonder, Argon and Max – are paid on every route.
